Tampa is a Global Hotspot: Hosting the International Indian Film Academy Awards

London, Singapore, Amsterdam, Dubai, Bangkok and now Tampa Bay! Our beautiful city has been selected to host a prestigious award ceremony of great magnitude at the end of April! The International Indian Film Academy Awards are coming to Tampa, and this will give us a unique opportunity to get a taste of spectacular and inspirational Indian traditions at our own doorstep.

The international community will see Tampa in a way that has not yet hit the international stage. Here is your point of reference: About 120 Million people turned in for the 2014 Super Bowl, whereas 800 million people are expected to view the IIFA Awards, Mayor Buckhorn said. Based on the premise that Bollywood fans like to follow the stars footsteps, Visit Tampa Bay plans to launch a map of Tampa showing places where Vidya Balan, Shahid Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and other stars have been.

It all began in 2000 when London became the first host for this unique event, and each year after that a new destination around the world has been chosen. According to Dr. Kiran Patel, cardiologist, philanthropist, community leader and huge fan of IIFA in the Tampa Bay area, “with the descent of Bollywood in Tampa Bay and the continued good will of the Indian community behind us we look forward to the grandest celebration of Indian cinema that the US will bear to witness to.”

As the momentum is building up and expectations are growing, the city of Tampa is honored and proud to be able to take on such prestigious endeavor. Hillsborough Commissioner Al Higginbotham cannot hide his excitement as well, as he said “Fans and those just learning about Bollywood cinema are thrilled. I think it is fair to say that Bollywood fever is taking over Tampa.”  Having the IIFA in Tampa is a unique chance for our region to attract thousands of visitors and future customers, just as the previous hosts of this event have experienced. Without our strong Indian community here in Tampa Bay, none of this would be attainable. Cultural diversity is one of our main treats and being able to host a huge event like this only proves that we are a desirable and global hotspot for people from all over the world, and we are a city who is equipped to handle the influx of people, with open arms!

Actor and Bollywood superstar, Vidya Balan, will be one of the main attractions of this year’s award ceremony. She recently announced, “Going forward, I am very pleased to be a part of the IIFA’s landmark journey, as they venture in to the United State, in Tampa Bay.” There are 3 types of packages that can bring you closer to the action at the awards: platinum, gold and silver. These include access to various event, after parties, green carpets and meet-and-greets with your favorite stars. Make sure you do not miss out on this once in a life time opportunity to explore the world of Bollywood!

Here at SI Real Estate, we are thrilled to welcome such an amazing audience. IIFA is a worldwide event which will bring India closer to Tampa Bay. With an already established Indian community, we have had the privilege to work with numerous clients from India. We have had the pleasure of making their international relocation and transition to the United State as effortless and seamless as possible. Our team of real estate professionals has a culturally diverse background that makes it easier to effectively communicate and understand the needs of people from different areas of the world.
